about

So I picked up the guitar when I was 14 yrs old but aside from reading tabs and learning blink-182 covers, I didn’t rly take songwriting and the instrument all that srsly until I was 22. Yeah, quite the time skip. Tho I was ultra focused, I was still far off from where I needed to be aka to have confidence in my skills as a guitarist, let alone being able to call myself one. I remember practicing at least 5 hours a day, every single day, for about half a year, which led to tendinitis in my left hand (fingers would curl into my palm and completely lock up). So I cut practice to about 2 hours a day and from that my fingers healed on its own. But despite all this “training,” there was still one thing I couldn’t figure out... guitar solos. Like so many ppl out there, it was always a dream of mine to learn how to shred and express my feels through a beautifully melodic solo as there’s nothing quite like it. Imo not even the dopest, heaviest bass drop can compare. But I stayed optimistic and kept working hard. In yet another drastic time skip, it was about 4 years ago, at the age of 29, that I finally learned how to solo. Tho it took forever, the determination and perseverance was absolutely worth it. Growing up, I listened to a lot of hard rock and metal but often forwarded the songs to the guitar solo part and I’d replay them over and over again. Since then I’ve always wanted to make a song that was like one long guitar solo, all while having a similar vibe and tone to soundtracks from Mega Man games and epic anime fight scenes. And so from the ashes, “Redline” by SUNKEN VESSELS was born (and yes, the anime film “Redline” was indeed an inspiration for this song). This track represents the long winded journey it took to not just learn how to shred but to learn how to be more comfortable in my own skin as a guitarist.
